Flavours, territories, and communities for a new sustainable tourism

GUSTI promotes collaboration between Italy and Croatia to enhance the gastronomic and cultural heritage of rural areas.

GUSTI is a project funded by the Italy-Croatia Interreg Programme 2021-2027.

It was created to address some of the main challenges of food and wine tourism: the seasonal concentration of tourist flows, the need to diversify offerings, environmental protection, and the enhancement of local identities.

The project involves territories, institutions, tourism operators, producers, and communities in the creation of new experiences based on gastronomy, culture, and sustainability.

GUSTI's Goals

Enhancing rural areas

Make internal and peripheral areas the focus of new tourism proposals.

Promoting intangible cultural heritage

To give visibility to traditions, knowledge, productions, and practices that tell the story of communities' identities.

Support local economies

To create new opportunities for producers, restaurateurs, accommodation providers, and tourism operators.

Improving sustainability

Reduce waste, promote local and organic products, and encourage more responsible practices.

Strengthening cooperation

To foster dialogue between operators, institutions, and Italian and Croatian territories.

Develop new skills

Offer training activities and operational tools to improve the quality of tourism services.

Skills
to accompany change

The transition towards more sustainable tourism requires up-to-date knowledge, design capabilities, and stable collaboration among all stakeholders in the destination. The GUSTI training platform was created to support this process, offering content dedicated to the design of experiences, communication, sustainability, and the enhancement of local products and identities.
